It started by getting inspired.

I came across a project that I instantly fell in love with, The Great Bubble Barrier.

I mean, their name is utterly captivating, but upon visiting their site and just finding out more on what they’re about, I just thought the whole technology and concept was genius. Their purpose is simple:

“Every minute, the equivalent of one full garbage truck of plastic trash is dumped in the sea. With 80% of those plastics coming directly from land. The Great Bubble Barrier® creates a barrier stopping plastics from flowing past, but it also allows fish and ships to pass through the barrier unimpeded.”

After stumbling across them, I quickly became fascinated with this concept of brands ‘doing good’. It opened up my eyes to a huge industry, realising there are thousands of startups out there using tech to enhance people’s lives or improve the planet. There’s a bunch of great VCs that only focus on funding tech for good companies (like the excellent Bethnal Green Ventures) and a range of meetups (Tech for Good Meetup) providing education and showcase for multiple tech for good brands.

It got me thinking, how can I get involved? I’d love to contribute my skills to help brands in the early stages of their journey to make a tangible difference. What if I was to offer a service to help these brands ‘doing good’ succeed? I quickly realised that to fully support them, they’d need expertise across the multiple disciplines in marketing. Enter my conversation with three of my very talented colleagues (and now co-founders) who have fantastic expertise in content, design, video, events, product marketing, social media and beyond.

After many meetings over many coffees, today I’m delighted to say Bottle Half Full is born!

Over time we hope to add a huge community of marketers, willing to dedicate some of their spare time to help scale up brands that do good. Our offer and concept, like the first one that inspired me to start this journey, is a simple one:

Free marketing support to any brand trying to make the world a better place.

For now, we’re working (pro-bono of course) with a small handful of brands to show how marketing can help them achieve specific business goals. If you’d like to know more and see how we could support your brand, have a look at our website and drop us an email, we’d love to hear from you.
